"Rocce del Fellicarolo", oil on canvas 80 x 100 cm, year 2024.
At the base of this wall of sedimentary rock, the bottom of an ancient sea, one July a few years ago I witnessed an Ephemera danica emerge, the first I noticed in the Apennines. The imposing rock structure evokes a sense of wild, ancient restlessness, an obstacle to be overcome to access further levels of existence. How can you resist painting the sensations it fuels, emphasizing them with a waterfall and a mysterious, deep pool?
